Welcome to the Co-Ag web site!

We are a farmer owned and operated grain & pulse crop storage and marketing cooperative located in the beautiful Palouse country of Eastern Washington state. The fine growers of this area produce winter and spring wheat, feed barley, malt barley, green and yellow field peas, lentils, chickpeas, bluegrass seed and canola. The Palouse boasts some of the most fertile crop land in the world along with some of the finest stewards of the land in it's farmers. Co-Ag was formed June 1, 1998 as the result of a merger between Oakesdale Grain Growers, Inc., Rosalia Producers, Inc. and Fairfield Grain Growers. These three cooperatives had been serving their local membership for decades. All three of these companies were successful and enjoyed high regard from not only the members they served but by the industry as well. The three shared many things in common, but what was most notable was that the trio was fortunate enough to have leaders who were aware of the change that was and is rapidly consuming our industry as we know it. Soon after the formation of Co-Ag, the company acquired Northwest Pea & Bean of Spokane, Washington. Northwest Pea & Bean was and is one of the largest processors and marketers of dry peas and lentils in the nation. Since a considerable portion of the business Northwest Pea & Bean conducted was, indeed, with the trio that made up Co-Ag it became apparent that the pulse processor needed to be part of the company. And so it was in August of 1998 that Northwest Pea & Bean was officially acquired by Co-Ag, and that is how the company stands today. Co-Ag is and always will be about the farmer, local ownership and control. There are those in the industry who contend that the local grower is no longer qualified or able to control his or her own destiny. Co-Ag is proof positive that the farmer is still firmly in control.
