Wheat futures closed down 5 3/4 cents. Weekly shipments were strong at 22.1 mln bu of wheat, (4.4 WW, 1.4 SR, 8.3 HRW, 2.9 DNS), 38.1 corn, 13.9 beans, and nil Bly. YTD all wheat shipments are running 30% ahead of last year.

Pea & Lentil bids - All product except for 2 cars of lentils were from midwest origins. Yields in Montana and western North Dakota are coming in very good with harvest over 50% complete. Midwest & Canadian yields are quite good, but wet weather & disease have impacted quality. There is interest to buy lentilsfrom exporters, but very little trading. We will always accept offers at higher levels for a try!! USDA Solicitation #090 on Wednesday Aug. 25th includes 10,810 MT (23,831,726 lbs) of yellow split peas which will likely come from the midwest at low prices. Offers submitted on Tuesday Sept. 7th.

Barley- With the production problems in Russia and Europe there is finally some export potential for barley.

Wheat futures are currently down 10 3/4 cents. Spring Wheat is 76% harvested against 56% last year and 85% for the five year avg. Ukraine is apparently holding ships carrying about 380,000 MT of wheat in its ports and not allowing them to leave. They reduced their wheat export outlook to 5.95 MMT from 7.1 MMT.

Pea & Lentil bids - All product except for 2 cars of lentils were from midwest origins. Yields in Montana and western North Dakota are coming in very good with harvest over 50% complete. Wheat futures are currently up 13 1/2 cents. Egypt booked 225,000 MT of HRW all from the US overnight. A German mill bought 20 tmt of US spring wheat Tuesday, the first US wheat sold to them since 2007. Australia got rain in the northern and western growing regions. Rome-based FAO (food and agriculture organization) says Pakistans 2011 wheat crop is at risk as the massive floods have caused planting delays.

Wheat futures are currently up 15 1/2 cents. Export sales were 1.08 million versus expectations of 600k - 900k. Ukraine government has put off imposing grain quotas, citing the world market prices have settled down after Russia’s export ban.

Pea & Lentil bids - USDA Solicitations #080 and 080B both traded at very low prices on all commodities. All product except for 2 cars of lentils were from midwest origins. Yields in Montana and western North Dakota are coming in very good with harvest over 50% complete. It is raining this morning (Aug. 23) in Montana. Central and eastern North Dakota, and Canada continue to fight wet weather conditions. There is interest to buy from exporters, but very little trading. We will always accept offers at higher levels for a try!! USDA Solicitation #090 is scheduled to be announced on Wednesday Aug. 25th.

Wheat futures are currently up 15 cents. Tunisia bought 50 tmt of wheat and 20 tmt of barley from the US. Exporters sold 110,000 tons of hard red winter wheat to Egypt. This announcements come on the heels of a hefty sale of 225,000 tons to Egypt earlier this week and reinforced that demand for U.S. wheat is rising amid worries about tightening global supplies of the grain.
