Market comments…
Wheat futures closed down 24 1/4 cents. Egypt bought 240tmt of French wheat as they continue to be aggressive sellers into the world market. US spring wheat harvest is slowed by rains in W North Dakota and MT. Rain in the forecast for Russia to help get the winter wheat planted along with news from Stats Canada that July 31st wheat stocks came in well above expectations at 7.82 million tonnes, a four-year high, added to the negative tone.
Pea & Lentil bids -    All product except for 2 cars of lentils were from midwest origins.   Yields in Montana and western North Dakota are coming in very good with harvest over 50% complete.  Midwest & Canadian yields are quite good, but wet weather & disease have impacted quality.  There is interest to buy lentilsfrom exporters, but very little trading.  We will always accept offers at higher levels for a try!!  USDA Solicitation #090  on Wednesday Aug. 25th includes 10,810 MT (23,831,726 lbs) of yellow split peas which will likely come from the midwest at low prices.  Offers submitted on Tuesday Sept. 7th.
Barley-  With the production problems in Russia and Europe there is finally some export potential for barley.
